Why F&M Bank?
Question: What do you enjoy most about being a lender for F&M?
At F&M Bank, we are a team. We all come together to service our business customers and work with them to achieve their ultimate financial goals. We build relationships with our clients and listen to their needs to structure loans accordingly.
Question: What is the advantage of using F&M’s commercial lending services versus another local community bank?
F&M Bank has all the products and services that other financial institutions offer. Our advantage is our people. We take the team approach, and our employees are dedicated to servicing our customers and building lasting relationships. We also have local decision making which means the person that you are working with from the beginning is also approving your loans.
Let’s Get to Know You:
Question: Where are you from, and what’s brought you to where you live/work now?
I was born in Taunton, MA. My father was in the Navy which moved us around quite a bit on the East coast between MA and VA. We were stationed in Staunton and my father was Lieutenant Commander of the Navy Reserve Center here. My parents fell in love with the Valley, and we made it home when I was around 10.
Question: What do you like best about the local community you serve?
Staunton is my home, and I love the people. What I like best about my community is that it’s family friendly with a variety of activities to choose from such as the Shakespeare Theatre or the Frontier Culture Museum.
Question: What are your hobbies and/or where do you volunteer?
I love to travel and explore new places, spend time with my family and friends and read. I currently volunteer with the Staunton-Augusta-Waynesboro Habitat for Humanity as a Board Member. I recently started volunteering my time with an organization called Pandas Fight Against Cancer to help support those fighting cancer in memory of my brother, Keith Walker.
Question: How long have you been working in the commercial real estate and lending industry?
I have been working in the lending industry since 2000 as a Branch Manager and Business Relationship Manager at other financial institutions. I came to F&M Bank in June of 2018 and joined the Commercial team.
Question: What impact do you hope to make on the local community?
I hope to build strong relationships within my community and with local business owners. When they are ready to expand, buy equipment or have any lending need I want them to think of me.
